The ASRT just did a salary survey. The average yearly income, in FL, for an ultrasound technologist is $60,958. You can go to this site, and click on “annual compensation by state” to see how that compares to other states.http://www.asrt.org/content/rts/surveyre…
I work in a free standing imaging center. On an average day, I will do studies, such as abdominal and pelvic scans, thyroid, breast, carotid, deep vein thrombosis studies, and OB ultrasounds. The sonographer is responsible for imaging certain organs and documenting them. The radiologist will then read out the study and interpret the images.
The physics was really hard for me to learn. The anatomy was easier, but I had been a radiologic technologist already, and had a strong background in anatomy, so that gave me a head start. I am not sure what the keys are to learn ultrasound. Obviously, pay attention and attend class regularly. When you are in the clinical setting, you can learn a lot from the sonographers who you will be working with. They are a great resource, so pay attention to what they tell you. Best wishes…..
